PhotoPile Image Hosting only asks basic information from its members for registration purposes. Phone numbers and addresses are not required to register. However, this information will be required by PayPal, our 3rd party billing service, when you purchase services. The only form of contact specific information that PhotoPile Image Hosting requires from its members is their email address.
Email addresses are used to uniquely identify each member and to discourge the abuse of trial services offered by our company. It is against our user policy for one individual to setup multiple user accounts in an attempt to gain access to multiple free trial offers. This type of abuse takes away bandwidth that would otherwise be available to honest paying members. So, to keep our services fair, we have put a system in place that helps enforce our policy. Requiring the confirmation of email addresses is the only good way to prove unique identity.
Upon registration, PhotoPile Image Hosting will automatically email a confirmation code to the provided email address. This confirmation code will be used to prove the ligitimacy of the address. Until the address is verified, the free trial will not be formally activated. During this time, a restriction will be placed on the new account, only allowing 1 image upload. This will allow you to start your image uploads immediately while you wait for your confirmation email to be processed and received by your mail service. After the confirmation code has been verified, the trial service will be activated.
